While modern systems development methodologies are assumed to re-use existing technology components, often developers end up figuring out how they really work while discovering the errors. This undermines their productivity and consumes a disproportional amount of the project's resources. Open License Society advocates a different approach based on a unified systems engineering methodology. A cornerstone in this methodology is the creation of 'trustworthy embedded components'. In order to achieve this goal much emphasis is given to the requirements and specifications activity while using formal and logical model building to achieve error-free software. Hence, in the open licensing model licensees not only receive access to the source code, but they also obtain copies of all design documents, formal analysis and validation documents as well as all information to execute confidence tests.
