While modern systems development methodologies are assumed to re-use existing technology components, often developers end up figuring out how they really work while discovering the errors. Hence, in the open licensing model licensees not only receive access to the source code, but they also obtain copies of all design documents, formal analysis and validation documents as well as all information to execute confidence tests.
