Presentation: IEEE 802.15.4 Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN): protocols and designs
Shortform:
Energy-efficient wireless sensor network design is getting more and more attentions. In this talk we inspect the physical layer and MAC layer properties of IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The standard can be applied to construct wireless personal area network and wireless sensor networks with elaborated protocol stack to save energy of wireless nodes and let the network co-exist with other type of networks sharing the same frequency band. Frequency allocation, coding, modulation, MAC layer primitives and functions are discussed in this talk. A short introduction of Zigbee Alliance organized to promote the use of such standard is also given. Important information for the designers to get sufficient resources are offered. Finally a design example is presented.
