Presentation: Open source VoIP networks
Shortform:
Open source and VoIP are the buzzwords of the moment. These two
combined could change the whole telephone industry and will probably
change the industries pricing structure.
But many problems remain. A whole range of communication protocols like
SIP, H.323, AIM,Skype... compete for the market. Different compressions
schemes and time dependency result in big challenges for developers to
select what to implement and how to do this.
We will review the asterisk approach of using standard pc hardware and
trying to do everything in software against the dedicated embedded
solution used in many of the VoIP endpoints
